A Revolutionary Year: From Devastating Fibromyalgia To Founder Success
From Pain to Power: How Boxing Saved Me and Created M Box Fitness
When your body feels like it's fighting against you, sometimes you need to learn how to fight back – just not in the way you might think.
When Life Throws You Curveballs, Learn to Punch Back
It’s 2022. I have three amazing little girls full of energy and wonder, a life that should have been all about adventures and memory-making, and me – caught in that classic mom struggle but with an extra plot twist called fibromyalgia and small fiber neuropathy.
You know that feeling when your body just won't cooperate with what your heart wants to do? Girl, I LIVED there.
Those of you juggling health challenges while trying to be everything to everyone – I see you. The invisible battle is real. The "but you don't look sick" comments? Check. The mental gymnastics of deciding if today's special moment is worth tomorrow's payback? Been there.
On my good days (and let's be honest, we all cherish those golden moments), I'd try to squeeze in some movement – maybe a light jog or whatever workout wouldn't wreck me completely, or pack in allllll the chores. My daughters wanted their mom in the game, not on the sidelines with heating pads and excuses.
Sound familiar? Maybe your challenge isn't chronic pain. Maybe it's exhaustion from wearing too many hats. Maybe it's the mental load that never lightens, or anxiety that keeps you playing small, or simply feeling disconnected from the strong woman you know is in there somewhere.
The Day Everything Changed
Then came the article. A small, unassuming mention of non-contact boxing as a potential management technique for chronic pain conditions like mine. Not a cure – there isn't one – but a possibility. At that point, possibilities were in short supply, so I grabbed onto it with both hands.
"Why not?"
So I did.
I still remember walking into that first class, anxious and half expecting to crawl out early or pay for it with a week-long flare. Instead, something miraculous happened: I not only made it through – I felt energized. The crash never came. No escalating pain spiraling out of control. Just pure, exhilarating fire coursing through my veins for the first time in years. I went again a few days later and again twice the next week.
My family couldn't believe it. Honestly, neither could I.
What Boxing Gave Me That Medicine Couldn't
That first class wasn't just a workout – it was a revelation. Boxing gave me back what countless doctors' appointments, medications, and traditional therapies couldn't:
Movement without punishment: I could push my body without paying for it later
Mental clarity: The focus required to learn combinations cleared the brain fog
Emotional release: Every punch released accumulated frustration and grief
Hope: For the first time in years, I could envision an expanding life, not shrinking
Most importantly, it gave me back my role as a mom. Not the mom apologizing from the sidelines, but the mom in the game – playing, moving, adventuring with her girls. The mom I'd always wanted to be.
The Birth of M Box Fitness
As my strength grew, so did an idea. What if this wasn't just my miracle? What if other women – especially moms dealing with invisible battles of their own – could experience this same transformation?
That's when M Box Fitness took shape in my mind: a boxing fitness experience specifically designed for women who need to reclaim their power, whether they're fighting chronic illness, burnout, self-doubt, or simply the daily grind of putting everyone else first.
The "M" wasn't just for me – it was for all kinds of mamas:
The moms juggling careers and carpools
The muscle mamas on their fitness journeys
The fur baby mamas showing up for their four-legged family
The single mamacitas embracing their independence
And yes, even the mother-lovers – those men who support and champion the women in their lives
More Than Mitts and Movement
From the beginning, I knew M Box needed to be different from traditional boxing gyms. No bro culture. No intimidation. No focus on fighting others.
Instead, I created a space focused on fighting for yourself:
For your health: With modifications for different bodies and abilities
For your confidence: Through skills that translate beyond the gym
For your joy: Because fitness should feel liberating and fun, not punishing
For your community: Building connections with women who get it
Every combination taught, every session designed, comes from someone who understands what it's like when your body feels like it's working against you – and who discovered that the right kind of movement can help you work together again.
From My Fight to Yours
My journey from chronic pain patient to boxing fitness founder wasn't straightforward or easy. There were setbacks. There were tears. There were days I questioned everything.
But here's what I learned, and what I want every woman who encounters M Box to know: your body isn't your enemy. Your limitations aren't your destiny. And your power – that deep, fierce, beautiful power that's uniquely yours – is still there, waiting to be reclaimed.
Whether you're battling chronic illness like I was, drowning in the demands of motherhood, stressed from carrying too many responsibilities, or simply disconnected from your own strength, boxing can be the unexpected path back to yourself.
M Box Fitness exists because I needed it first. Now it exists for you – because every woman deserves to discover the fighter within her, especially when life has her on the ropes.
